Creation And Evolution

For hundreds of years people in European based culture believed that the story of creation as outlined in the bible was the literal truth. As scientists began relying more on the evidence of their senses and the general populace started following their lead, a debate began to heat up. One side of the argument belonged to the people who insisted that the scientists were wrong to rely on their senses and reason, and the other side belonged to people who believed it was wrong to stick to a traditional explanation of how we got here that was starting to fall apart under the light of scientific examination.

Lately, the creationists have made up a new way of looking at the bible’s version of creation. It’s called Intelligent Design and it changes God into a nameless, formless first cause of the universe. This seems okay as a theory but the trouble is, people who argue FOR Intelligent Design seem to dislike anybody arguing AGAINST it.

On the internet you will find web sites that appear to contain scientific argument against the theory of evolution but if you go below the surface you will find that the aim of the guys behind these sites is obviously to discredit evolution rather than debate it.

The video featured today is Ricky Gervais having some fun with the bible’s version of the beginning of the world. The fact is you could find just as much to make fun of in evolutionary ideas but the people on that side probably have more of a sense of humor.
