Your Guardian Angel
The guardian angel, in the way it is understood in modern times, is an invention of a fifth century Christian philosopher called Pseudo-Dionysius The Areopagite. According to Christian thinkig, your guardian angel is not only looking after your physical well-being but also asks God to overlook some of your sins on account of your being basically a good person. The idea of heavenly beings getting the job of looking after earthbound creatures is mentioned in the Bible. There has also developed the idea of a devil attending each of us to advance the case of selfishness against Godliness.
